Docomo multiple session 3G/GPRS browsing charges

Previously we wrote why your call doesn’t get connect to customer care representative if you have called them previously atmost 3 times a day.

As we all know that Docomo offers cheaper 3G plans than any other telecom company in India. But there are many flaws and hidden charges in DOCOMO 3G/GPRS plans that you are not well aware of.

There are 2 disadvantages of using 3G/GPRS pack in DOCOMO

1. Disconnection problem

It is the most common problem that all encounter who uses TATA DOCOMO as there internet service provider. Though there is no fixed time or data limit when your internet connection will be disconnected for a few moment. But it is really annoying to get disconnect from internet when you are in the middle of something important. Take one example as doing online shopping and internet stops at the time when your payment is in the process with the vendor whom you are purchasing or paying your bills.

2. Multiple session 3G/GPRS browsing charge

Have it ever happen to you that you have got some data MB left in your Docomo internet plan and inspite of that you were charged for browsing internet. Most of your answers would be “YES“. You must be wondering what is multiple session charge because you might haven’t heard of anything like before because you won’t get to know unless you are a victim of it and you have really annoyed the customer care for what reason your balance was deducted even if you have some Data left in your internet pack.

Before we get deep in what Multiple session charges are ? Let me explain what it is first.

In Multiple session you get charged or otherwise saying your balance gets deduct when you open multiple pages of website at the same time. Lets says you open Google in one tab, Facebook in second and soon on and you are downloading something in your browser or via any other download manager your balance will deduct.

As far from my personal experience you won’t be charged for multiple session when your internet data left is more than 10MB in case of RS.5 3G/GPRS pack and 40MB or 50MB when you have recharged your mobile with higher GPRS/3G pack which has also been confirmed by DOCOMO Customer care representative of 121. On the other hand Docomo online chat support representative writes the same that whenever you open multiple pages or is surfing internet in multiple browser and clicking on chargeable content you would be charged or your balance would be deducted from your main account though he never mentioned specifically when you would be charged for multiple session browsing.

How to avoid getting charged for multiple session GPRS/3G browsing?

  • Surf only one website at a time
  • Do not surf in multiple pages or open multiple browser when data left is less than 10MB [ RS.5 3G pack] or 40MB/50MB [ Higher 3G packs ]
  • Keep your balance between RS1.00 – Rs1.50
  • Do check your Data balance via calling “*111*1#” to know whether you have less than or more than 10MB left.
  • When less than 10MB left and you really want to surf in multiple tabs recharge with any other 3G pack until it data is 10MB

    I really liked your post, because I am also a DOCOMO user and believe me its worst service I ever used. They deducted 100’s of rupees from my balance for no reason. Talking to customer care is simply waste of time. Porting my No. to any other service provider soon.

      whenever the money deducted call the customer care and tell them you are working in telecom sector and know all the facts of activating value added services. And if customer care refuses to refund ur money back then ask the customer care ID And name and note it and say him that you will complain in consumer court, otherwise refund me. money can’t be refunded if 24hr passed from time of deduction

    reply i got from customer care..
    I would like to inform you that, as per our record your balance of Rs. 1.60/- debited from your account for browsing GPRS in multiple sessions on your mobile, hence you have been charged as per your usage. Kindly check with the same.

    Kindly note if you browse more than five pages at a time your balance will deducts from your main balance

    Now I feel, mine is a worst experience.. My data left or balance was about 700MB and I was charged about Rs 65/-. When asked for details, the customer care just maintained the same reply that because of multiple session use, this amount has been debited. The information they gave was still wrong because one person mentioned in their reply that, my 95/- Rs were debited where as another in the next reply mentions 125/- Rs. debited. It seems that they themselves are unaware of how much to deduct and on what basis and how to explain it to the client..

    Yess mera bhai bal kaata ha inhone 1st time 44 then 9. Then when i have called 121.
    Same bloddy responce “sir you have opened multiple browsers at a same time”.
    Then i have googled this and found only this site showing this info .
    Docomo cheaters but still its cheapest 3g that is why m using ………………………………

    One day, I was happy to see cheaper plans and next day, they deducted my balance by 35 Rs. I called to customer care to get explanation he said you’ve used multiple sessions, I asked him to return the money to my account, that “Hero” stated abusing and cuss words on me and discounted the call.

    Yesterday I lost 150 rs. When I called they are talking about multiple session.I am thinking of going to consumer court.

    I also have lost about Rs.800/- to 1000/- totally (Yesterday – Rs.205, Rs.0.00 left balance), it is advisable that everyone has to register complaint with consumer court against TATA DOCOMO, and do not closed this connection, but MNP to their competitor, so, the can think about that “what is wrong?”

    I had balance rs508 and data 8.5 mb.
    They charged me rs466 and refunded only rs200.
    What a worst service..

    My worst experience 421 MB data…800 Rs deducted..and at the end I still had 9.35 MB data left

    it cheats customer. No other teleprovider charges for multiple session.

    Docomo even denying to give information regarding all of its rules and regulations applicable to data usage in details.

    When I start browsing 120MB was there.. after browsing for a while I checked and found 12MB left + 195/- deducted from mobile balance… Called customer care.. all gave same stupid answer that I used chargeable websites… what the hell is a chargeable websites…How would we know if a site is a chargeable.. When I asked him how would we know if a site is a chargeable or not, he replied, “RJ” will be written in chargeable sites and links. Funny thing is I couldn’t find “RJ” anywhere… It’s a total waste talking to docomo customer care…

      They told me the same reason when I called them yesterday and told the same that i couldn’t find RJ anywhere and when I told furious again to them the representative transfer to her senior and he told me that your balance has been deducted for the multiple session browsing

      I also thought of switching to Idea but Docomo gives the best offer like for 253rs you get 222rs + 1gb 3g which makes me loyal to docomo even though I lost my rs270 yesterday for the same old crappy multiply session browsing data yet I am still sticking to Docomo because the 3G signal reception is good in here and airtel 3g stopped in our state so I got no option to be stuck with docomo
